There are anatomical gaps on the upper jaw where the big molars are located and these gaps are called "maxillery sinuses". Post extraction, in some of our patients' cases sagging sinuses can be seen on the areas that left empty for too long. There might not be enough bone for placing the implant because of the excessiveness of the sagging. In this case, sinus base membrane is lifted up and the gap between is filled with bone graft. This is called as "sinus lifting appliance".

Implant can’t be applied on the same session after sinus lifting process to the patients who don’t have enough bone amount. This appliance can be done after waiting a certain period of time. But if there’s enough amount of bone to support the implant; in this situation either sinus
lifting and implant appliance can be done in the same session. Though bone graft appliance is done to areas that don’t have enough amount of bones. But in this process, the accurate surgery must be applied with accurate indication and detailed, delicate evaluation.

Dt. Utkan was born in 1975, İstanbul. He graduated from Istanbul University faculty of dentistry in 1998.
Utkan carries his studies on in the areas of aesthetic dentistry, implantology and smile design while employing the methods by using the possibilities of the latest modern medical techology with his comprehensive experience.
