Smile design uses set of cosmetic applications to enhance your smile’s appearance.
In a complete smile design, patient’s face is evaluated as a whole. After the result of all of the evaluations, the arrangement of the teeth which is the most suitable fit for your face is provided for you with your wishes considered.
While an ideal smile is being created, a lot of tissues take part during the process such as teeth, soft tissues, muscles, bones. Therefore smile design is a multidisciplinary treatment protocol that requires the cooperation of the branches of medicine which are interested in these tissues (orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, periodontology).
At this point, a patient’s disliking of his or her smile becomes more of an issue. With patient’s concerns and wishes considered, after the digital analyzes, radiographic and oral examinations a personal treatment plan is prepared. Within this treatment plan, the criterias such as position of the teeth, sizes of the teeth, gingival levels, teeth color, position of the lips, cadence of the lips and teeth and smile line are evaluated. A schematized treatment is conducted and the ideal results are provided.
HOW IS AESTHETIC SMILE DESIGN DONE?
Smile design treatment has numerous steps. In the first step, patient's aesthetic needs and treatment expectations must be determined by the dentist. Multiple practices such as aesthetic coating, aesthetic filling appliances, teeth bleaching, gum treatments, dental size increase can be done in this treatment combined.

What is Digital Smile Design?
This question takes place in the most wondered topics. First of all, in this treatment, a digital smile design must be done. Video and photoshoots are done first for the planning of the digital smile design. In the same session, upper and lower jaws are digitally measured in order to make designs on them.
In this process, the data recorded in the first appointment is digitally evaluated by the dentist and the projected smile is designed.
After, the digital design which was created in regard to the taken measurements are turnt into the model and a second appointment is made with the patient for this model to be tested.
A silicon mold (mock up) which is gathered over the prepared digital design model is placed on patient’s teeth.
With dentist’s guidance, this design can be viewed on the mirror or with a camera record.
The production of the design and it’s showing to the the patients inside their mouths takes 2 sessions in average. In this process, the aim is to make the best smile design.

Dt. Utkan was born in 1975, İstanbul. He graduated from Istanbul University faculty of dentistry in 1998.
Utkan carries his studies on in the areas of aesthetic dentistry, implantology and smile design while employing the methods by using the possibilities of the latest modern medical techology with his comprehensive experience.
Utkan speaks good command of English, German and Italian.
